On a very special occasion in 2015, I participated in a Women's Fire Ceremony at a family and systemic constellation workshop. During the ceremony, I felt I was in touch with the sacred. With the rhythm and sound of the stomping of our feet, I experienced an altered state of consciousness. This was a crucial experience to pave my way toward the study of shamanism.
The same year, I learned about the workshops the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS) offered in the Toronto area. Curious, I started with the FSS Basic Workshop, The Way of the Shaman, which was a life-changing experience. For the next two years I continued my shamanic training with advanced workshops in extraction, dying and beyond, power soul retrieval, divination, dreamwork, the spirits of nature, and others. I learned the methodology, skills, tools, knowledge and the importance of ethics. I never looked back since.
In the next few years, I deepened my study in the FSS residential Two-Week Shamanic Healing Intensive and Harner Shamanic Counseling training. I am currently attending the Three-Year Program of Advanced Initiations in Shamanism and Shamanic Healing. With a strong calling in my heart, I signed up for the FSS Faculty Intern Program during COVID. I am honored to be accepted as a Guest Faculty member for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, offering online workshops in both English and Mandarin to bring this powerful methodology to a broader community.
I used to seek a human teacher who could guide me through the spiritual maze. However, with the methodology I've been learning from the FSS, I know for a fact that we should not confuse the teacher with the lesson and the ritual with the ecstasy. The methodology is linked to our encounter with the forces of life beyond time and space and not with the people who bring this about. The connection we cultivate with our helping spirits through shamanic practice gives us love, strength, wisdom and support to live a full life.
Mira was born and raised in Taiwan and moved to Canada in 2007. Now she lives in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada with her loving husband, two beautiful daughters and two handsome black cats. She is a shamanic practitioner, guest faculty member for FSS online workshops, a family and systemic constellation facilitator, the founder of a home health care ecommerce retail store and HR Director of a national tool company.
