Michael Harner called shamanism "a science of the spirits." Many people view science and spirituality as diametrically opposed to one another. But Roland Urban, Director of FSS Europe, challenges this assumption and makes a case for a new perspective - that science and shamanism are two sides of the same coin. Both are knowledge pathways, based on observation and experimentation. But while academic science concerns the exploration of ordinary reality, shamanism is the science of non-ordinary reality. When shamanism and science are viewed not as counter to one another, but as complementary, a far richer exploration is possible.
