FSS Core Shamanism Chronicles features brief personal shamanic healing accounts and practical applications of shamanism in daily life. By sharing our inspiring stories with each other, we hope to reveal the power, effectiveness, and beauty of shamanic practice.
If you have a core shamanic practice story to share, please send as an email attachment to INFO@SHAMANISM.ORG and put “Chronicles” in the subject line. Submission guidelines: No more than one page is recommended. Accounts should offer a specific personal example of healing or applying core shamanism methods in everyday life. As always, keep in mind ethical standards of confidentiality and permission: Ask your clients for permission before sharing and do not reveal their names. If your submission is selected for inclusion in the Chronicles, you may use your name or choose to be listed as anonymous.
Since the beginning of the Ukraine war I have been donating half of the proceeds from my shamanic healing sessions to the United Nations Refugee Agency. I feel such a need to do something to help. At the same time I recognize that the suffering of being forced out of their homeland is not restricted to Ukrainian refugees, but is global — which is why I’m donating to the UN, to benefit refugees everywhere.
Out of my concern for the war in Ukraine, my spirits gave me this sun spirit journey. Here are the steps:
1. Journey to the Upper World (with your spirit-animal).
2. From there, look for the spirit of the sun in the Upper World and travel to it.
3. On the sun you can seek guidance and knowledge about what is happening in Ukraine.
4. Standing on the sun, look back to earth, and ask to see Ukraine.
5. The sun spirits start now to radiate on this spot and it becomes clearer.
6. You can now meditate on this spot, holding the intention to learn more about what is happening. You can also get more perspective on your feelings from this vantage point.
7. When you are ready, retrace your steps and return to Ordinary Reality.
When I took this journey to the sun spirits, I first felt a big melancholic sadness. I felt that deep in their hearts, no one on either side of this conflict wanted this war, and I was surprised to feel no real aggression at all. On the other side, I felt relief and an intuitive knowledge that this has to be done—that an older conflict now has a chance to be resolved. I got the understanding that this conflict is following a bigger divine plan and is not an accident or an individual failure. This information calmed me down and a lot of fear disappeared.
At the end of the journey, I saw an unidentifiable object or place that was shown to me as one reason or focus of this conflict. At this point I was not allowed to know more or go further. My Interpretation of this was that we can’t know exactly what the purpose of this conflict is.
All in all, the interpretation of the journey for me was that the Ukraine conflict does not contain the emotional background to go on too long (hopefully). Also, there could be a purpose, unknown to us, that could end the military aggression quickly when reached. This helped me emotionally to lose the fear that the war could expand to other countries and left me with hope that this conflict might be over soon.
The most important part of the journey was the emotional change for me.
