Shamanism for Inspired Local & Global Change™
In these challenging times, shamanic work, when combined with ordinary reality knowledge and action, can make an immense contribution toward effective long-term solutions for community and global problems. Shamanic divination—asking the fully compassionate spirits for answers to questions—is particularly helpful in providing inspired and workable ways to address complex issues in ordinary reality.
This workshop offers practical methods to gain and apply wisdom from the spirits to resolve persistent problems facing humanity, our precious Earth, and its inhabitants.
In this workshop, you will:
- Practice applying shamanic divination/journeying methods to the problem-solving process
- Use shamanic divination to gain insight into real-world issues you care about
- Examine ethical guidelines and issues of permission
- Look at some of the personal benefits of spirit-inspired community action
- Explore possible ways to ethically bring the power of the compassionate spirits to our world
NOTE: Participants must be able to successfully journey to contact at least one helping spirit from the Upper or Lower Worlds.
Training in shamanic methods to address specific issues
If you would like to join with others interested in applying shamanism and the power of the spirits to find ordinary reality ways to help, focused on a specific issue, please scroll down to the calendar listings. In the Instructor column, look for a workshop that displays "Focus on [subject]." For example, for Ukraine, look for "Focus on Ukraine." (Contact instructor for details.) We expect to add more focused trainings soon. If no focus is listed, the participants will each choose their own subject when learning the method.
Zoom Video Conferencing Instructions
This experiential online training taught by FSS faculty members is offered via Zoom video conferencing. Participants will see and hear each other and interact in pairs and small groups, as well as in the full circle. All students must participate with audio and video and access the meeting through their own individual device.
Before your online training you will receive instructions from the workshop instructor for joining the session using Zoom. Meanwhile, we recommend you download these Zoom instructions including information on audio and video settings.
Before the workshop, select a private, comfortable location where you are unlikely to be disturbed. Please consider the use of headphones or earbuds for an enhanced audio experience, and the use of a computer or tablet for an enhanced video experience. We recommend you connect your device to a power source prior to the workshop, or fully charge your device's battery.

- Completion of this workshop with an authorized FSS Faculty Member qualifies participants to take more advanced FSS workshops. NOTE: You must complete all sessions of this workshop to meet prerequisites required for more advanced workshops. Please arrange your schedule so that you can be present at all sessions of the training.
